Caring for your suit

A well-tailored suit deserves the same attention as any lasting investment. Proper care ensures not only its longevity, but also its impeccable appearance — wear after wear.

HERE ARE A FEW ESSENTIAL TIPS:

#1 Store It Properly : Use padded wooden hangers to preserve the shape of the shoulders and avoid distortion. Metal hangers should be avoided, as they can leave unsightly marks. Never leave your jacket on the back of a chair, a bed, or — worse — the floor. As for trousers, hang them from the hem, not the waistband: the weight of the fabric naturally smooths out creases.

#2 Rotate Your Suits : Avoid wearing the same suit two days in a row. Let it rest for at least 48 hours to allow the fibres to relax and recover their shape.

#3 Brush After Every Wear: Use a soft natural-bristle brush to remove dust and particles, especially around the hem of the trousers, which tends to collect the most debris. This simple step will keep your suit fresh and help preserve the fabric.

#4 Spot Cleaning: If a stain appears, act fast. Blot gently with a clean, damp cloth — never rub — to avoid damaging the fibres. For more stubborn stains, use a fabric-appropriate stain remover, or consult a professional.

#5 Dry Cleaning: Opt for dry cleaning only when necessary — typically every 4 to 6 wears, depending on how often and how long you wear the suit. Over-cleaning can fade colours and weaken fibres.
Warning: If trousers are worn too long without cleaning, creases may become discoloured from daylight and perspiration — leaving visible marks that are difficult to reverse.

#6 Steaming & Ironing: Always use low heat when ironing, and protect the fabric with a cloth or pressing cloth. For best results, use a clothing steamer to relax fibres without direct contact. This helps remove light creases while preserving the texture of the fabric.

#7 Use the Right Garment Bag: Store your suits in breathable fabric garment bags to shield them from dust while allowing airflow. Avoid plastic covers, which trap moisture and can cause unpleasant odours.

#8 Inspect Regularly: Check your suits for loose threads, missing buttons, or signs of wear. Address minor repairs promptly — it's the key to preserving both function and form.

#9 Prevent Odours: After wearing, hang your suit in a well-ventilated space — ideally outdoors — for a few hours to let it breathe and release any residual odours.
