Caring for your shoes

Well-maintained shoes are the foundation of a lasting wardrobe. Here are a few essential tips to preserve their shape, finish, and character over time.

#1 DAILY MAINTENANCE: DON’T LET DIRT SETTLE

- Remove surface dust: Use a soft-bristle brush to gently dust your shoes after each wear. It prevents buildup and keeps the material breathing.

- Spot clean: For light stains, wipe immediately with a slightly damp cloth to avoid letting marks set into the leather.

- Inspect regularly: Check for loose stitching, scratches, or worn soles — early repairs are always the best ones.

#2 OCCASIONAL DEEP CLEANING

- Prep the shoes: Remove the laces and brush off any surface dirt.

- Clean gently: Use a cloth dampened with a solution of warm water and mild soap (like Marseille soap) to softly scrub the upper.

- Soles: Use a stiff brush to clean out soil or residue from the soles.

- Rinse & dry: Wipe with a clean damp cloth to remove soap residue, then let the shoes air dry naturally — away from any direct heat source, which can damage the leather.

#3 POLISHING LEATHER SHOES

- Choose the right polish: Select a high-quality cream or wax polish that matches your shoe colour.

- Apply sparingly: Using a soft cloth or a polish brush, work the product into the leather in small circular motions. Allow the polish to absorb for a few minutes.

- Shine: Buff with a shine brush for a clean, elegant finish.

#4 WATERPROOFING

- Use a water-repellent spray suitable for the shoe material (leather, suede, canvas, etc.). Spray evenly from a distance of 15–20 cm.

- Do not saturate. Let the shoes dry completely, ideally for 24 hours, before wearing them.

#5 STORAGE

- Insert wooden shoe trees after each wear to help maintain the shape and absorb moisture.

- Store shoes in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to prevent fading or cracking.
